Open Fours
Started back in 1995, our Charity Open 4s was the brainchild of club stalwart - Alan Stewart. It is normally held on the 3rd Sunday in July and in all that time, we have so far been very lucky with the weather and not once been called off. Clubs from as far afield as Hampshire and Surrey join us, in what is one of the highlights of our outdoor season.
The club donates 50% of all the profits from the day to local charities, with the total donated over the years now exceeding £20,000. Charities which benefited over the years include:
St Wiflrid's Hospice,
The Friends of Chichester Hospital,
Contact 88,
P.A.C.S.O.
the local Alzheimer's Society, to name but a few.
2017 Charity Open 4s – Sunday 23rd July
Daphne Anderson was a member of Chichester and Arun Ladies for many years, during which time she raised thousands of pounds for local cancer charities. Sadly Daphne succumbed to cancer herself in 2015, so it when it came to deciding our charity for this year's Open 4s, it felt only right to continue her good work. Therefore half of this year’s profits will be going to Leukaemia Research, Fernhurst Centre, St Richards Hospital.
